SUMMARY:Artist of the Month Reception
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Western Art will host its Artist of the Month reception on Thursday\, April 19\, 2018\, at 5:30 p.m. with landscape artist Steve Talley. Non-museum members are invited to attend the wine and cheese reception with a suggested donation of $10\; museum members\, of course\, attend at no charge. \n\n \n\nSteve developed an art interest not long after graduating with a degree in astronomy/physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978. Juggling a career in the sciences and ultimately computer programming\, his art skills continued to improve by taking workshops from primarily plein air artists. He produces impressionistic realism\, being a blend of rich colors but under control as well as producing a more subdued look as did the Tonalist painters. Almost every summer\, Steve travels from his home in Fredericksburg to Taos\, New Mexico\, and on to the northern reaches of Alberta and British Columbia and places in between\, searching for inspiring vistas. His painting of Enchanted Rock State Natural Area was chosen by Texas Parks and Wildlife the focal point for the informational kiosk at the Enchanted Rock Summit trailhead.\n\n \n\nThe award-winning Museum of Western Art is located at 1550 Bandera Highway in Kerrville. Hours are 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information\, please call 830.896.2553.
