DESCRIPTION:The Gillespie County Fair & Festival Association is offering a July 4th weekend of pari-mutuel horse racing combined with a Scholarship Fest in Fredericksburg at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds on Friday and Saturday\, July 4 and 5.\n\n \n\nIt will be the first pari-mutuel horse race meet of the Gillespie County summer racing season. Post time is 1:00 pm each day. Gates open at 11:00 am\, and races run until approximately 6:00 pm. Ten races are set for Friday\; 12 races for Saturday.\n\n \n\nGeneral admission for the horse races is $7 for adults\; $3 for children ages 6-15\; and free for children 5 and under. Reserved Seats are $10 per seat\, regardless of age. Box Seats are $15 per seat\, regardless of age.\n\n \n\nOn Saturday evening\, race fans are invited to stay into the evening for Scholarship Fest. Guests will enjoy German food\, drinks\, live and silent auctions\, and all-day drawings for thousands of dollars worth of guns\, jewelry\, gift certificates\, outdoor and sporting gear\, art\, and more.\n\n \n\nFunds raised at this annual event provide scholarships for Gillespie County youth\, part of the Fair Association's mission to "to encourage\, instruct\, and promote the education of the youth of Gillespie County." Since 1998\, Gillespie County Fair & Festival Association has awarded over $313\,000 for 577 scholarships.\n\n \n\nAdmission to Scholarship Fest is $25\, and includes general admission into the races\; appetizers\, German plate\, and drinks at the Scholarship Fest immediately following the races\; and entry for door prizes.\n\n \n\nFor the first time\, tickets for all events can be purchased online in advance.
