Chef Brand will be showing his culinary expertise at both the Cooking School and the Legacy Gala dinner slated for this Fall. \n\n Raised on a farm in the Midwest\, Executive Chef John Brand cultivated a passion for locally sourced\, fresh ingredients that he applies to the \;Mokara Hotel and Spa and Ostra \; restaurant and companion hotel Omni La Mansió\;n del Rio&rsquo\;s Las Canarias\, both located on the world-renowned River Walk in San Antonio\, Texas.

\n\n Brand brings more than a dozen years of experience at luxury properties to Las Canarias and Ostra \, \;to include time \;as chef de cuisine at Charles Court restaurant at The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. He refined his gastronomical talents as executive chef at Fossett&rsquo\;s at Keswick Hall in Keswick\, Virginia\, and as executive sous chef at the Little Nell in Aspen\, Colorado. Prior to that\, Brand was executive sous chef at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale\, Arizona\, and maintained several positions at the Hyatt Regency Beaver Creek Resort and Spa in Beaver Creek\, Colorado.

\n\n Brand&rsquo\;s enthusiasm for the rich history and vibrant culinary scene of San Antonio is captured in his menus\, continuing to delight regulars as well as new guests. A wholesome &ldquo\;lifestyle cuisine&rdquo\; approach is a key ingredient in his culinary aesthetic\; working thoughtfully to create dishes that are from sustainable sources.

\n\n Chef Brand will host a Cooking School on Thursday\, November 14th\, at the Inn of the Hills. Cooking School tickets are $80 each and with attendance limited to 250 people\, they are expected to go quickly.

\n\n Past signature events hosted by the Peterson Regional Medical Center Foundation have raised over $535\,000 in net proceeds. These proceeds have been instrumental in supporting the growth and development of palliative care\, women&rsquo\;s services\, rehabilitation services and the new Peterson Regional Medical Center facility. \; This year proceeds will further the hospital&rsquo\;s mission by providing \;nursing scholarships to caregivers wishing to continue their education\, as well as purchasing essential medical equipment.
\n\n More than 40 community leaders and volunteers are responsible for helping create this year&rsquo\;s signature event and organizing the festivities.
