DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Western Art is pleased to showcase artist Roger Parsons as its Artist of the Month for November. A wine and cheese reception will be held on Thursday\, November 17th at 5:30 p.m. Non-museum members are invited to attend with a suggested donation of $10\; museum members\, of course\, can attend the event at no charge. Please call 896.2553 to R.S.V.P. Born in Indiana in 1957\, Parsons graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1979 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He received his master's degree from Purdue in 1983. In 1999\, he moved to San Antonio and has taken classes with numerous prominent artists. "The primary influence on my work is Arturo Chavez\, prot g  of Wilson Hurley\, noted for his large scale western landscapes\," Parsons said. "My goal is to get the 'non-art' person to do a double-take   to stop for a longer look. If a viewer has an emotional response\, or they feel like they are at the location depicted   that would be success." The award-winning Museum of Western Art is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The Museum is located at 1550 Bandera Highway.
