The Community Foundation is excited to announce a first-ever grants event! We are teaming up with Schreiner University to host the premiere grant-giving event of the year and give away $20,000 in one incredible evening! Hill Country 501 (c)(3) non-profit organizations (Kerr, Gillespie, Bandera and Kendall counties) are encouraged to submit an application detailing their request for funds. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Applications are available online and are due by 5:00pm on January 15th, 2013.
Completed applications should be submitted online to: grandslamgrants@communityfoundation.net.
10 finalist and 5 semi-finalist organizations will be selected by the Community Foundation to participate in the Grand Slam Grants event on March 5, 2013. Each of the 10 finalist organizations will have 90 seconds to make a verbal presentation and "pitch" their request to a panel of judges in front of an audience. Following each "pitch", the panel of judges will have 90 seconds to ask questions of the finalist. The judges will independently decide the evening's winners for the top 3 grants given that night. The 1st place winner will receive a grant award of $10,000, 2nd place will receive $5,000, and 3rd place will receive $2,500. This will be an incredible opportunity for the selected non-profit organizations to educate attenders on their mission and their current needs!
One final award will be decided by the audience. While the judges tabulate their votes for the top prizes, the 5 semi-finalist organizations will have 90 seconds to make a verbal presentation and "pitch" their request to the audience, at large. After all of the semi-finalists have completed their "pitch", the audience will then have the opportunity to ask questions of any finalist or semi-finalist. Each member of the audience will have one vote to cast for the organization of their choice. All 15 of the organizations represented that evening will be eligible for the "People's Choice" Award. The "People's Choice" award winner will receive $2,500. Each non-profit organization is encouraged to bring as many representatives from their agency as possible to cast a vote!
