Susan Sander presents “Come to the Hill Country & See the World.” The “wild” outside is not necessarily native but it shows how global our environment has become. After 150 years of human introductions, the “wild” now includes a host of plants and animals new to the western hemisphere. It’s a process we facilitate as gardeners. The white-tailed deer which traces its lineage back 3.5 million years now has to share its habitat with deer from Asia and Europe. More than 60 plants from different parts of the planet now grow “wild” along the Guadalupe River. The stories behind their journeys is a combination of good intentions and accidents. It begs the question: “What does it mean to be wild?” RNC member $8/ Non-member $10. Free with new RNC Membership.
