Position:  Ingram Maintenance Worker     
    Reports to:  Ingram Maintenance Foreman                            
 

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old. Must possess a current, valid Texas driver’s license.
 
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to lift fifty pounds. Ability to perform a variety of tasks related to the construction and maintenance of grounds and equipment.
 
Basic Function:
Performs a variety of maintenance tasks in and around buildings and grounds, such as making minor repairs, replacing broken items, performing preventive maintenance, landscaping, and plant maintenance.
 
This position is subject to mandatory drug testing and any offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results from a drug screen conducted for the agency.
 
Responsibilities/Tasks:
  1. Cleans and repairs equipment such as beds, fans, vacuum cleaners, motors, heaters, air conditioners, lawn care equipment.
  2. Repairs clogged sinks, commodes, drains, faucets.
  3. Replaces burned out light bulbs and performs minor electrical repairs.
  4. Cleans, lubricates and stores maintenance tools and equipment; makes minor repairs and adjustments.
  5. Makes basic carpentry repairs (e.g., doors, door locks, windows, chairs).
  6. Paints and maintains exterior and interior of buildings and properties.
  7. Assists skilled maintenance technicians, as requested.
  8. May work with children to familiarize them with basic maintenance grounds keeping skills.
  9. Washes windows; may buff and maintain floors.
  10. Mows and rakes lawns; weeds gardens and flower beds and trims shrubbery; sweeps walks and shovels dirt.
  11. Assists with staff as needed to provide assistance to children and/or support to facility operations.
  12. Detects, corrects or reports situations that have a possibility of causing accidents or injuries to children or others.
  13. Performs plant maintenance and landscaping duties including maintenance of greenhouse, fertilizing trees and plants, transplanting, and tree replacements.
  14. Participates in in-service training.
  15. Work assigned schedule and complies with Hill Country Youth Ranch’s timekeeping policy.
  16. Demonstrates responsibility, maturity, and role modeling in all interactions with staff and children.
  17. Follows HCYR policies and code of conduct serving as the social, moral, ethical, and legal role model for children.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.
