Competitive Theater Director

JOB SUMMARY:      
This is a part-time, stipend position to direct the One Act Play as an extracurricular activity outside of school hours beginning mid-August through possibly mid-November depending on if the play advances to state TAPPS competition. Coaching for solo and duet acting plus possibly other speech events begins in mid-October and goes through the end of March. Practices are on Friday mornings (preferred) or at a mutually agreeable time. A few Saturdays for invitational meet speech judging may be needed.  
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Known as OLH, Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School is a private college preparatory high school located on 80 acres in the beautiful Texas Hill Country on the outskirts of Kerrville. OLH is accredited through the Archdiocese of San Antonio and the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCB ED). Since 2007, 100% of our graduates have been accepted to a four-year university.
 
With a student body composed of varied ethnic, religious and financial backgrounds, the school reflects the diverse population of the Texas Hill Country. The curriculum and extra-curricular activities are rooted in the traditions of the Jesuit and Dominican religious orders. Students attend regular classes Monday-Thursday with Fridays reserved for Independent Study and Enrichment.
 
Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School is looking for highly qualified competitive theater director.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:  
1. A Bachelor’s degree preferably in theater
2. Preferred practicing Catholic in good standing 
3. Supportive of the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church
4. At least two years of directing experience preferred
5. Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, and other faculty members
5. Willingness to oversee and direct the school’s One Act Play program, prepare students for solo acting and duet acting competitions, and possibly prepare students for other speech competitions.
