Solar Service & Commissioning Technician

Greater Texas Solar is a locally owned solar company serving the Texas Hill Country. We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented technician to take ownership of commissioning new solar systems and providing exceptional service after the sale.
This is an opportunity to become our primary Solar Service & Commissioning Technician, helping ensure every customer receives a safe, reliable, and well-performing solar system. The ideal candidate enjoys troubleshooting, solving problems, and taking pride in quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
 
Responsibilities
- Commission newly installed residential and light commercial solar systems.
- Start up and configure inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems.
- Perform electrical testing and verify system performance.
- Troubleshoot solar, battery backup, and inverter issues.
- Diagnose and complete service and warranty calls.
- Assist customers with monitoring apps and system operation.
- Complete commissioning reports and service documentation.
- Coordinate with office staff regarding warranty claims and follow-up visits.
- Occasionally assist installation crews when needed.
 
Qualifications
- Experience with residential electrical work or solar installations.
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems independently.
- Comfortable working on roofs and around energized equipment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors.
 
Preferred Experience
- NABCEP certification (or willingness to pursue it).
- Experience with Sol-Ark, EG4, Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, SolarEdge, or similar equipment.
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and PV commissioning procedures.

Electrical, generator, HVAC, or industrial maintenance technicians are encouraged to apply. Solar experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.
