About Us

K’STAR, Inc. is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to strengthening youth and families across the Texas Hill Country since 1992. Based in Kerrville, K’STAR provides free youth and family counseling, emergency shelter care, and community support services that promote safety, healing, and long-term stability.
Our counseling services are available at no cost to children, teens, and families in 14 Hill Country counties. K’STAR Family Specialists are professionally trained to help address mental health challenges, trauma, family conflict, behavioral concerns, and more to empower families with tools for communication, resilience, and hope. Our counseling team is equipped to help connect anyone with other local resources offered as well.
K’STAR’s emergency children’s shelter provides 24-hour care for youth in crisis, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment and helping children build life skills for a successful transition.
Through community outreach and programs like Halo’s Kloset, we provide clothing and essential items to local children, reducing stress on families and meeting immediate needs.
