The Museum of Western Art in Kerrville has been honored by True West Magazine as the Number One Western Art Museum in the country for 2025. The award was announced at an evening wine reception on Wednesday, September 3rd in the Museum’s outdoor pavilion. The prestigious award Is awarded following an in-depth selection process, said Johnny D. Boggs, Publisher. “We evaluate based on a museum’s exhibits, facilities, multimedia and online accessibility, events, and promotion of historic/cultural resources.”

Darrell Beauchamp, Executive Director of MoWA, was honored to receive such an influential award.  “We’ve ranked in the top five Museums for four years now, so to achieve the top status is thrilling for us. It not only recognizes our growth as a Museum that now attracts nationally recognized artists and a global audience, but it is an asset for our community to share this acclaim. True West Magazine is in its 72nd year of publication and furthers the culture of the Old West, its adventures, people, history, and culture. Over 22,000 subscribers enjoy each issue, so this is a publication that allows us to be in front of the people who love western art.”

Boggs attests to the good fit. “The Museum of Western Art is where cowboy culture becomes fine art,” he says. “Its collection is both heartfelt and historically grounded.”
