Reports to the Board of Directors - Full-time | Salaried Exempt

Job Summary
The Executive Director is the hands-on manager of the business of KerrKonnect, a small nonprofit organization that provides low-cost volunteer transportation to improve the quality of life for individuals in the local community. Managing the business includes management of paid and volunteer personnel, as well as financial planning and management. The Executive Director serves as a spokesman for KerrKonnect and helps plan and lead grant applications and other fundraising activities. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for achieving the long-term and short-term goals of the organization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities in order of importance and priority:
I. General Duties 

  • Oversees and participates in the day-to-day and long-term management of the Kerr♦Konnect transportation program.
  • Oversees and manages paid and volunteer staff members, including designing job descriptions for staff positions with input from the Board.
  • Prepares and presents monthly financial reports, staff report and program statistics to the Board
  • Recommends policies to the Board and administers approved policies.
  • Assists and participates with the Volunteer Coordinator and Board members in meeting with community organizations.
  • Attends workshops and training events that offer ideas to enhance Kerr♦Konnect programs and presents this information to the Board.
  • Suggests and proposes future projects and participates in strategic planning sessions with the Board.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.
II. Fiscal Operations, Budget Development, and Expenditures
  • Develops financial reports to present to the Board and conducts annual financial review with the Board; works with the Board to develop the annual budget.
  • Acts as accountant/bookkeeper or works with outside accountants to ensure accuracy and timeliness of Kerr♦Konnect financial reports and condition.
  • Authorizes expenditures in accordance with policy.
  • Manages receivables and ensures deposits are made of all monies received.
  • Oversees payroll processing.
  • Oversees investment style accounts to ensure the best return.
III. Funding Development, Grants, and Financing Activities
  • Leads fundraising and development efforts and strategies to secure sufficient funds for the organization’s operations and funding toward future strategic plans.
  • Oversees and participates in monetary development efforts, including grant writing and reports to donor organizations, donor cultivation, and fundraising events. 
IV. IT Skills and Management
  • Has competence in Microsoft Office Suite, web donation programs, credit card entries and withdrawals, and accounting software for business operations.
  • Has competence in reading, creating, and understanding financial documents.
  • Will actively learn the RideScheduler software platform and related reports, functions, and troubleshooting.
  • Be or become familiar with VoIP telephone service, its functions, and troubleshooting. Experience with time recording programs
V. Public Relations Activities
  • Articulate Kerr♦Konnect’s vision, mission, statement of need, unique value proposition, and overall strategy and direction of the organization.
  • Utilize news and social media to increase awareness of the organization.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the local community, health, and governmental agencies.
  • Develop programs for presentations to community groups, individuals and local and regional organizations.
Education and Experience
  • Small business management and human relations experience.
  • Nonprofit work experience, with a focus on seniors.
  • Training and experience with computer- and Internet-based business operations essential.
  • Fundraising experience desired.
