KERRVILLE, TX – The Republican Women of Kerr County announce General Land Office Commissioner, Dr. Dawn Buckingham, as the featured guest speaker for their upcoming February General Meeting. Speaking to the organization on Friday, February 20th , Buckingham will discuss her landmark victories as Commissioner of the General Land Office, major purchases, work done for Texas veterans, and other major accomplishments. A seventh-generation Texan, Dr. Buckingham graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Serving as a school board member in 2014, Buckingham was elected to the Texas Senate in 2016 serving Senate District 24. In 2023, Dr. Buckingham made history as the first woman to be sworn into Texas’ oldest agency – the Texas General Land Office, becoming the 29th Land Commissioner of Texas, Taking place in the Ballroom Room at the Inn of the Hills, register for the February General Meeting, online at rwkctx.org or send an email to rwkcreservations@gmail.com.
