Kerrville Area Chamber Foundation Announces
First Round of Small Business Grants Issued for July 2026 Flood Recovery
 
KERRVILLE, TX —July 23, 2026 The Kerrville Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation Board announce the first small business grants were approved today providing much needed immediate assistance to area businesses facing the overwhelming challenges of flood recovery.
     “The July 16^, 2026 floods took a different route this year affecting many businesses not affected in the July 2025 floods.” said Pete Calderon, Chairman of the Kerrville Area Chamber Foundation. “To that end, we are processing applications we didn’t see last year. Our Rebuilding & Recovery fund is our way of stepping up to support them during this critical time.”
     “The Chamber Foundation Board approved $140,000 in small business grants ranging from $2,500 to $25,000 today across a dozen and a half local Kerr County business.’ shared Kerrville Area Chamber President & CEO Mindy Wendele. ‘We are proud of our swift action to get this money out as soon as possible.’
   In Kerr County, small businesses account for roughly 99.% of local business establishments, with a vast majority of these locally-owned operations maintaining fewer than ten employees. According to the U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts.
     ‘The reality is the Kerrville Area Chamber Foundation has many applications pending with limited funds to give out.  We are actively soliciting funds to help these businesses and are asking for the public’s help.’ Wendele stated.
