About Us
Camp CAMP has been serving children and adults with special needs in Kerr County since 1979, and since 1989 in its home facility in Center Point. We provide opportunities for individuals with mild to severe medical, developmental, intellectual, or behavioral needs. Because of the severity of needs some of these CAMPers experience, even other special needs camps are often unable to accommodate them. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy a camp experience, regardless of their disability, illness, or financial means.
Our mission is to strengthen and inspire individuals with special needs - and those who are for them - through Recreation, Respite, and Education. We accomplish this mission through generous donations of financial gifts, in-kind gifts, and that most precious resource: time spent in volunteer service. Volunteer counselors can start volunteering as a 1:1 CAMPer buddy at age 14, after completing an application and attending a training sessions. Volunteer counselors can earn 99 service hours for each week of Camp CAMP they volunteer for during Summer Camp. Weekend camps throughout the school year are eligible for 25 hours of volunteer service credit. All of these camping programs are held at Camp CAMP in Center Point, Texas.
Additionally, to ensure the medical and physical safety of our CAMPers, we rely heavily on the volunteer service of licensed physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other health professionals. During select weeks of summer camp, Health Care Volunteers can earn CMEs/CNEs/CEUs while serving our CAMPers.
